2026 Oxford Hackathon

Workshop dinner at New College, Oxford.

The 2026 Chaste Hackathon was a “bring your own project” event held in Oxford, UK, on 16-17 September.

This was a hands-on, informal event for anyone using, or planning to use, cell-based Chaste in their research, for example to answer questions in developmental biology, cancer biology, or related areas of the life sciences. Participants brought along their own model, dataset, or research question and worked on it over the two days.

Participants benefited from dedicated time with people who could help develop their project from two angles:

• Chaste developers, who helped improve and optimise code, debug issues, and pointed participants in the right direction for making the most of Chaste’s functionality.
• Experienced Chaste-affiliated PIs, who gave scientific guidance on whether implementations were making the best use of Chaste to answer the biological questions at hand.

Travel and accommodation costs were covered for UK-based early career researchers.
